b) How to select GSM network when abroad?

Any Modern GSM handset offers a choice to select a new network, automatically or manually. The default setting in most cases is automatic. This setting will instruct your mobile phone to automatically connect to the strongest partner network signal within reach. As you head towards your destination, the handset will continually monitor the available networks and keep you connected. In the Manual selection setting your GSM handset will detect if there is more than one network present and offer you to choose. Choose the network and get connected without any hassle. To manually select the network refer to your mobile phone user manual.

c)  Calling whilst abroad

Standard Roaming

To make National Calls within the country you are roaming in, enter the Area Code followed by Telephone Number then press Send.

To make International Calls from the country you are roaming in, enter the '+' sign (or the international prefix) followed by the Country Code, the Area Code then the Telephone number and press Send.

d) Call Barring when Abroad

Barring all Incoming Calls (BAIC) while roaming is a complimentary offer from COMIUM thereby keeping watch on your expenses.

Barring Password (BP) is made available to you to activate or deactivate BAIC. Barring Password is 0000. Due to security reasons we recommend you to set in a new 4 digit password.

To Change your barring password press **03**Old Password*New Password# send (Barring Password should not exceed 4 digits)

To Activate BAIC while Roaming press *35* Password #Send

To Deactivate BAIC while Roaming press #35*Password# Send

Note: You cannot activate call forwarding (CFU)  and BAIC at the same time.

e) Charging Principles

Calls to the local number are free of charge. Local calls made within the visited country will be charged in accordance with the national tariffs and international calls will be charged in accordance with the international tariff of the Roaming country.

While roaming you will bear the Incoming call charges according to the International tariff plan of COMIUM Sierra Leone.

Avoid Incoming Calls by just activating COMIUM "Barring All Incoming Calls".

f) Handset Compatibility

COMIUM'S network operates on a 900 – frequency band. Roaming at 1800 or 1900 frequency band contact COMIUM Customer Care @111 and get information on the handset types with Roaming Facility.

g) Emergency Calls @ 112

  1. Identify yourself as a COMIUM subscriber
  2. Provide your GSM number
  3. Reason for Emergency
  4. Location
  5. Any dangerous situation for human lives don't hang up unless given permission notification.
h) Subscription

Documents required for Roaming Subscription :
Copy of Identity Proof

Charges for your Roaming Service would be included in your monthly bill. For security reasons, COMIUM's system may set a ceiling for your approved calling level in line with your cash deposit.
Cash deposit for Roaming Facility must be refilled in frequencies to avoid deactivation of the service.
